Arboriculture Tipping Body Fitted to Ford Ranger

Last week here at Brooks Engineering we fitted an arboriculture specific tipping body to the latest Ford Ranger.  The body featured an aluminium plank tipping chip box with separate toolbox at the front. Both chip box and toolbox were mounted on a galvanised sub-chassis.

Starting from the front, the toolbox was mounted separately from the tipping chip box. Meaning that all items in the toolbox remain stationary even whilst tipping. 1200mm by 350mm doors on either side allow most arb tools, along with the largest of snap boxes to be stowed easily and efficiently. Two plywood shelves running the full width of the vehicle further aid to keep things organised. Moving outside, the doors utilise two compression locks (keyed alike) on either door giving added security. In addition a rubber seal around the perimeter of the door means that stowed items are protected from water and dust ingress whilst travelling

The chip box compartment at the rear comes in at 1.2m tall by 1.9m wide. Fitted with an additional hinged chip deflector, which when lifted gives a total body height of 1.5m. As a result stray wood chip is kept to a minimum whilst still maintaining a compact silhouette whilst driving.

Last but not least, double upper barn doors complete with retainers on each side mean that either one or both doors can be open whilst chipping. A double opening tailgate hinged at the top and the bottom was also fitted. As a result the operator can alter how the door hinges or remove it completely when tipping off.
